“I Wanna Reign Again” Single Released

“Spinning around 1970s disco and funk, and set around Vivid’s panache of falsetto, No More Secrets treks through trance pulses of ‘We Can Ride’ and mellower moves of ‘Blackmail’ and ‘The Sky is Falling.’ First single ‘Hush Money (Straight to the Bribe),’ explores one’s choices–for all the right and wrong reasons.”

OCTOBER 22, 2021 (New York, NY)“It’s a song about just wanting to feel alive,” says NYC solo artist and electrifying performer Nick Vivid about his new hallucinogenic new synth-y, psychedelica single, “I Wanna Reign Again,” from his upcoming LP No More Secrets (release date: November 12, 2021 via MegaPlatinum Records). The track is about the idea that he, like most people after all the Covid lockdowns and restrictions, just wants to “get back out there and live again. I get all of the frustration out there. I feel for people who don’t have the patience or tolerance. I barely have it myself sometimes, but I try to balance that out with some faith that everything is going to work out for the best eventually if I get out of my own way and let things happen. That’s where the line ‘Help me get out of the way’ comes from – to stop trying so hard.”

Vivid says the ooey gooey psychedelic track is about being 100% completely and utterly “in sync with things.” He adds, “When I’m moving against the grain of the universe, I can tell and it’s not pleasant. Things don’t flow smoothly, my ego is probably working overtime, and my instincts are out of sorts.” The track began as two songs that were actually merged together, with the second half being finished first. “That’s a real Sly and the Family Stone influenced bit,” he says. “You can hear me copying a bit of the vibe of their track ‘Poet’ on that one. I will always proudly wear my influences on my sleeve.”

“I Wanna Reign Again” comes on the heels of “Hush Money (Straight to the Bribe),” a “simplistic yet captivating(NYS Music) track about the choice of being a “bullshitter” vs. being an “honest person.” News Whistle calls the track a “tympanic tingler.” Vivid’s newest single/video “Trainers” is a song about the blessing of second chances and starting anew when something isn’t working out the way you want it to. The track is also named after the video game term for cheat mode. When talking about the “Trainers” video Flaunt declares Vivid is a “shapeshifter and a hip shaker with a mind moving in multi-colored frames per second.” TREMG Mag says the track is a fun feel-good anthem that would fit perfectly on your weekend playlist while making you feel like you’re back at the roller rinks or arcades of your childhood.

Serving as a precursor to his upcoming record release show on November 13th at Brooklyn, NY’s All Night Skate (54 Rockaway Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11233), Vivid filmed the “Trainers” video in a blackout room in Queens, NY as a tribute to the classic-style performance video after not having been on stage in a year and a half due to Covid and he emphasis how even though there was no audience, he “went for it as if there were.” The video was inspired by old Beat-Club TV shows from the early 1970s where bands performed in front of a blue screen.

Vivid’s upcoming fourth album titled No More Secrets is based on themes revolving around the loss of both of his parents in recent years and the life lessons he’s learned from what he calls “intensive meditative pandemic soul searching.” Flaunt adds No More Secrets,“opens a door to escape the norm, incessant worries, and go someplace new,” while American Songwriter says the album“[spins] around 1970s disco and funk, and [is] set around Vivid’s panache of falsetto.” Not beholden to any trends, Vivid states, “I think I’ve found a way to fuse everything I love about ‘60s psychedelic funk, ‘70s glam rock, ‘80s new wave, and ‘90s hip hop into my own voice. I’ve had friends tell me this is my best album, and others tell me they don’t get it at all, but that it definitely sounds like me. I can appreciate that.” So Sally Plays lauds, “New York’s indie electronic multi-instrumentalist artist Nick Vivid is all about that sweet, sweet funk, deliverance and worship, enthusiasm on tap. Vivid by name, Vivid by nature.”

While Vivid is a front man/solo musician/song and dance man, he is also a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, drums, keys) as well as engineer and producer – an all-encompassing artist. Introduced to soul and blues music that bleeds through his music, Vivid was raised in Buffalo, NY by a radio DJ father and a glam rock-loving mother whose musical tastes shaped his musical output. Eventually moving to NYC to work with Bill Aucoin (original manager of KISS and Billy Idol), Vivid released a handful of earlier albums: Watch It Fly (April 2016), Nicksploitation (October 2017) and May 2019’s Blissed Out.
