This is Steve Albini’s 4 page letter to Nirvana, pre-dating and setting some of the ground rules for the recording studio sessions that would become the In Utero album.
I identify with Steve’s inspirational message here on many levels. I wish I could help bands make albums in a week, but due to time constraints it’s just not possible with most of the bands I work with. I do, however, notice the records that have been made at my studio are better when no one overthinks anything. It’s something everyone should keep in mind.
